Position Summary
Our client is looking for a Microsoft System Center Specialist to provide enterprise-level desktop support through the design, configuration, administration, maintenance / support of Microsoft System Center and its modules (for example: Configuration Manager, etc.)
Some key activities include: design and plan Microsoft System Center (SC) infrastructure, deploy and manage operating systems, applications & software updates, manage compliance settings, manage sites, manage clients, manage inventory, manage reports and queries, deploy and manage applications, plan and implement software updates, manage compliance and endpoint protection settings, and manage Configuration Manager clients.

 Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Understand and analyze business needs and current system configurations
  • Translate business requirements to effective & efficient system designs (documented designs); focus on user experience is a must
  • Develop and deploy System Center solutions and related technologies, including but not limited to: managing and deploying operating systems, applications and software updates; managing compliance settings; managing sites; managing clients; managing inventory; creating and managing reports and queries; deploying and managing applications; planning and implementing software updates; managing compliance and endpoint protection settings; managing configuration manager clients; managing inventory using Configuration Manager
  • Test System Center solutions, working with end users and system owners as needed
  • Perform System Center related production support and troubleshooting (root cause analysis) as needed
  • Assist with technology planning, strategy, and roadmap activities, as needed
  • Remain current on new or emerging tools and solutions that could benefit our business systems
  • Support, train, and share knowledge with peers, end users, and other teams as needed (Service Desk, End Users, Systems, Security, Release Management, etc.)
  • Ensure System Center performs in an optimal fashion that meets or exceeds business requirements; automate tasks, procedures/processes as needed
  • Complete system documentation (architecture/design, run books, etc.)
  • Provide accurate estimates of work (tasks, hours, etc.), perform work in a timely & quality manner, and report status of work in a timely manner
  • Perform in a continuous improvement mode (constantly look for ways to operate more efficiently and effectively; and apply change)
  • Assist with technology planning, strategy, and roadmap activities, as needed
  • Adhere to department principles, processes, standards, conventions, and industry best practices when performing work
  • Other duties as assigned
 Critical Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Solid working knowledge of the System Center 2012 (2016 is a plus) modules, system architecture (system components, etc.), tools, modules, and integration points
  • Experience managing: operating system images, deployments, & updates (on many hardware models); application/software packages, deployments & updates; compliance settings; sites, clients; inventory; reports and queries; etc.
  • Ability to work in a distributed environment (at least 60+ sites, 5000+ users)
  • Working knowledge and experience with Windows 7 & 10 operating systems, VMWare, computing devices (many different hardware models-servers, desktops, laptops, etc.), print servers, printers, MFDs, peripherals
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server (2008, 2012, & 2016), security and network systems, Active Directory, security key and certificate services, Cisco UCS is preferred
  • Working knowledge and experience with the System Center security model and System Center performance tuning·Ability to configure System Center solutions in a manner to foster maintainability in a team environment
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply technology is required
  • Basic knowledge of ITIL is preferred
  • General knowledge of VDI is preferred
  • Ability to travel as needed (approx. 10%)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including teamwork and team building
  • Strong analytical, technical, and troubleshooting skills
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of improving and leaning out business processes
 Education / Training
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience
  • Three to five years of System Center experience in a structured environment
  • One or more of the following certifications is strongly preferred: A+, MCP, MCSE Microsoft MCSE Certification
