Java Software Engineer
The Java Software Engineer will be responsible for creating and delivering custom software integration modules linking various data sources to Adobe InDesign. This professional is technically proficient, business-facing, and is self-motivated to insure project delivery milestones and quality targets are met.
  • Key design lead in print projects. Gathers and qualifies functional and technical requirements.
  • Functions as lead print solution architect. May collaborate with a dedicated architect in larger implementations.
  • Designs and develops application code that loads data and images from PIM (or other sources) and transforms into Adobe InDesign compatible format via print: comet plug-in architecture.
  • Performs product data modeling and implements connection to PIM.
  • Installation and configuration of print solutions in client environment.
  • Collaborates with test leads to document, plan and execute solution testing.
  • Trains client personnel for solution adoption and transfer of ownership.
  • Leads client in definition of processes and workflows for print asset creation.
Experience Requirements:
  • Experience in Java application development
  • Experience using SQL – MS SQL Server or Oracle relational database technology
  • Database theory (SQL, Data Modeling)
  • Web Services design practices (REST, SOAP)
  • some web technology (JSP)
  • various Java frameworks (ORMs [Spring, Hibernate], JAX-RS/-WS)
  • some non-Java technology a plus but not mandatory (C#, C, Perl)
  • code/development management (SourceControl, Automated Build, Automated UnitTesting)
  • the ability to explain all those technologies / how they're used / when they're to be avoided and why.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Must be able to travel part of time
  • Ability to work from home or in Columbus office
Bonus skills:
  • Understanding of Product Information Management (PIM) system concepts and operations, Including but not limited to: Informatica MDM & PIM, Stibo, Riversand and Oracle a plus but not mandatory
  • Demonstrable Adobe CC user skills including InDesign and Photoshop for catalog creation and photo retouching a plus but not mandatory
  • Experience using RESTful web services to integrate dissimilar enterprise systems
  • Experience and/or interest in the digital publishing process for the creation of data-driven catalogs, brochures, and sales flyers
