IT Program Manager - WMS
This role is responsible for applying IT project management knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to IT project activities in order to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of all project stakeholders – including the customer.  This includes the management of critical project components including project integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resource, communications, risk, and procurement through all phases of the systems life cycle.  This role is also responsible for managing and developing IT Project Managers and IT Implementation Analysts.  IT Project generally implementation of third party Supply Chain application packages such as Warehouse Management Systems and/or Transportation Management Systems.
This role provides leadership to the Supply Chain business as it relates to IT Project Management
Project Planning / Administration / Delivery
Oversee the development of project and resource plans and validate that all significant plans are optimized with regards to schedule and personnel.  Communicate commitment dates to project stakeholders. Procure contract resources when necessary.
Oversee concurrent projects ensuring that commitments of cost, schedule, and quality are kept.  Make appropriate decisions to put projects back on track if slippage occurs.  Communicate a realistic status of each project in a timely fashion to upper management and stakeholders.  Oversee the establishment and maintenance of standards of protocol, process and methodologies, programming, and service levels
Pursuit – (Cost Model Generation)
Oversee Business Unit IT team’s response to customer RFP / RFI / RFQ’s for business opportunities; speak to departmental capabilities to meet proposed schedules and start-up timelines; act as a Business Unit IT representative.
Provide project budget/financial management for all projects. Deliver projects on-time and on-budget.  Implement effective project change management progress so scope changes are understood and accounted for in project financial reports.  Assist operations team in understanding and transition of ongoing IT expenses into operational budget.
Assist in preparation of department budget, justify proposed expenditures, accurately forecast gross and net contributions on a monthly and annual basis.  Be frugal with expenses and manage to prescribed utilization rates to meet both gross and net budget on a monthly basis.
People Management
Review work completed by team and provide routine performance feedback
Conduct formal performance appraisals (at least twice annually)
Assist team members in drafting and executing personal development plans
Train and develop assigned members of the project management and implementation analyst teams
Requires minimal supervision from a more senior manager; accepts considerable responsibility for project success; effective ability to assist others in the completion of assignments through knowledge sharing, effective ability to work on multiple tasks and projects simultaneously; effective knowledge of business applications and business processes including both third party and in-house developed applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems or related field.  Master’s degree desirable
  • Minimum 11 years of experience in an IT environment, preferably in a project leadership or application development role – large company experience preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in an IT project management role.  Direct and successful accountability for project budgets and time-lines.   Experience of system design, development, or integration projects (packaged and custom solutions)
  • Must have experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) i.e. RedPrairie or Manhattan
  • Experience in the use of project management/planning software.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus
  • Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role which includes recruiting, interviewing, personnel evaluations, and disciplinary matters.
  • Experience in Logistics / Supply Chain industry highly desirable.

  • Travel requirement: 35 – 50%
